Temporary pits for drilling Mittelplate, Cuxhaven (Germany)

Piling works for 6 steel sheetpile pits, each 70 x 7 meters, used for drilling a pipeline in the German tidal area "Wadden" from the oil production platform "Mittelplate" to the main land.

The pilingworks were carried out from 2 pontoons. The pontoons were on high tide positioned on both sides of the pit and then ballasted on to the seabed to get a stable and fixed workplatform. Each pontoon was equiped with a crawlercrane and weldingequipment for the piling and installation of the girderframe. After installing the sheetpiles and the girderframe the crawlercranes were used to excavate the pits. Once the drilling of the pipeline between the pits was completed and the string was connected the girderframes and the sheetpiles were removed and the seabed leveled. The works were carried out in cooperation with Busker Hei- en waterwerken.
